Florida's
warm climate and varied scenery have long attracted bicycle tourists.
This book features one circular route and five interconnected
cross-Florida routes covering areas from Pensacola in the panhandle
to Key West in the southeastern part of the state. Route maps
and the Useful Addresses section, including contact information
for restaurants, bicycle repair shops, and supplementary transportation
options, complement the tours. The book also features profiles
of bed-and-breakfasts located along the routes and directions
for day tours starting and ending at the inns.
About
the Author
From his roots in Missouri to Milwaukee,
Louisville, New York and finally to Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Florida,
Dale Lally Jr. has been an avid bicyclist and a strong member
of several bicycling organizations. As the author of Bed, Breakfast
and Bike Mississippi Valley and after his five years of retirement
in Florida this book was natural for him to write. In Memory of
Dale Lally Jr., a wooden marker now sits on the side of the road
on the second curve of L'Alpe d'Huez in France, marking the spot
where Dale died suddenly of a heart attack in July, 2004, while
having the time of his life. He was doing two things he loved
most-cycling and cheering on his favorite champion Lance Armstrong
in the Tour de France.
