Lakeville, MN – Finney Company announced the acquisition of The New Careers Center, a company that publishes and distributes career development materials. The New Careers Center was relocated from Boulder, Colorado, to Lakeville, Minnesota. “After settling into our larger facility in April, the next logical step was to expand the business,” President Alan Krysan said.

The New Careers Center started publishing books under the Live Oak Publications imprint in 1982. The business prospered into distribution, which spurred the development of “The Whole Work Catalog.” This catalog was originally intended for individual consumers and grew into a second catalog for schools and libraries. “The Whole Work Catalog” now features more than 1,000 items from hundreds of publishers and distributors.

Finney Company entered the publishing business with its Career Development Materials Department in the early 1960s. “The addition of The New Careers Center was a strategic acquisition to both expand and strengthen our position as a leader in the career materials market,” Krysan said.

Finney Company plans to release “The Whole Work Catalog” in January. This new catalog will combine the product offerings of both the “Finney Career Guidance & Planning Catalog,” which has been published for more than 40 years and “The Whole Work Catalog,” which has been published for more than 20 years.

“We now have an expanded product offering and customer base, along with a highly respected and recognized brand and catalog in ‘The Whole Work Catalog,’” Krysan continued, “We are excited to be able to offer our customers the convenience of one purchase order from one supplier for the products and materials they purchase in the career development, guidance and training areas.”

Two titles published under the Live Oak Publications imprint of The New Careers Center, “Sunshine Jobs” and “The Work at Home Sourcebook,” 9th Edition, are currently available. These books are sold through Publishers Group West and are available to the general public at local bookstores, specialty retailers, catalog companies, Amazon.com as well as through Finney Company.

Finney Company, established in 1947, is a growing independent publisher and distributor of educational materials and trade books. In the last six years, it has acquired nine companies, expanding both the proprietary titles and titles distributed for other publishers.
