Lakeville, Minn.─ Finney Company, a growing independent publisher and distributor of educational materials and trade books, has entered into a non-exclusive arrangement with Pine Forest Publishing to be a wholesale distributor of their books. On September 17, 2007, the deal was finalized, and the books are now available through Finney Company.

Pine Forest Publishing consists of a series of books based on a syndicated newspaper column called The Back Forty by Roger Pond and a book called Livestock Showman’s Handbook also by Roger Pond. A former county extension agent, syndicated columnist and backyard sheepherder, Pond lives near Goldendale, Washington. Reared on a dairy farm in Ohio, Pond holds degrees in agriculture education, and wildlife management from The Ohio State University.

“The Hobar Publications division of Finney Company has sold these titles in the past through its catalog for career and technical educators. Pond being a former agricultural educator makes his books a great fit with our current customer base, plus they are great gift books for the trade and specialty market we serve,” said Finney Company marketing manager, Ann Prescott.

Mercury Mountain, by India Evans, is also a book Finney Company has begun to

distribute on a non-exclusive basis as of August 2007. This novel is written for young adults with an interest in environmental issues. The story is about a thirteen-year-old girl who wins a national contest and her prize is an environmentally advanced futuristic car.

Pine Forest Publishing titles and Mercury Mountain are available from Finney Company by calling (800) 846-7027 or faxing (800) 330-6232. They will also be available at local bookstores.

In recent years, Finney Company has sought to expand their distribution practice in order to fulfill the company’s mission to promote lifelong learning worldwide. Finney Company also distributes for Drache Publications and Joyce N. Shellhart.

“Finney Company has been in business for over 60 years, and with our recent growth, we saw an excellent opportunity to continue to strengthen our market presence. We are excited to improve the distribution of these newly-acquired titles so that more people in more places can enjoy them,” said Alan Krysan, president of Finney Company.

Established in 1947, Finney Company has grown exponentially in recent years. It now publishes over 200 of its own titles and has plans to add 12-15 new titles per year. In the past six years, it has acquired ten companies, expanding both its proprietary titles and titles distributed for other publishers. As Finney Company acquires more publishing companies, various imprints, and distribution rights, it continues to maintain a robust vision of the educational values it seeks to embody and encourage. Just last fall, Finney Company purchased The New Careers Center, including its imprint Live Oak Publications, and also Pogo Press. Together, these companies have enjoyed a combined total of more than 200 years of providing lifelong learning materials to schools, libraries, and individuals worldwide.

Finney Company now owns and operates the following divisions and imprints: Hobar Publications, National Farm Book Company, Agronomy Publications, K.A. Publishing, Windward Publishing, Anacus Press, Chester Book Co., Bancroft-Sage Publishing, Ecopress, The New Careers Center, Live Oak Publications, and Pogo Press.
